Overseas Vietnamese in the Republic of Korea |
On January 19, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Repubic Korea organized to welcome the Year of the Horse 2014.
On behalf of the Embassy, Ambassador Pham Huu Chi congratulated the overseas Vietnamese community in South Korea on the occasion of Lunar New Year and confirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State about regarding overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the community of the people of Vietnam.
The Ambassador reviewed the outstanding events in Vietnam – Korea bilateral relations in 2013, confirming the commitment of the two governments toward boosting and developing the strategic partner relationship. In particular, the Ministries of Labour of the two countries signed a “Special Memorandum” to resume sending Vietnamese workers to the nation under the Employment Permit System (EPS) program. It is expected that in 2014, about 10,000 Vietnamese workers will be sent to Korea and join the overseas Vietnamese community there.
The Ambassador appreciated the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea for the development of the country, as well as a bridge of friendship relations between the two countries. The Ambassador emphasized the spirit of solidarity, mutual help in the community and their love toward the homeland.
On this occasion, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Korea also presented Tet gifts to the Overseas Vietnamese Association, Vietnamese Students Association and representatives of the two Ly clans in the country.
* Previously on January 18, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, organized a meeting with overseas Vietnamese in the country on the occasion of the new spring.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung praised the contributions of overseas Vietnamese in the country as well as in the world to the development of the country.
On the occasion, Ambassador Dao Thanh Chung said that although the political and economic situation in Egypt is undergoing complicated changes which present difficulties and challenges, the Vietnamese Embassy and correspondent agencies of Vietnam News Agency and the Voice of Vietnam have overcome all difficulties to fulfil their duties.
Ambassador Dao Thanh Chung hoped that in 2014 with effort and determination, each officer and staff member would jointly implement practical activities to reinforce and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries
